Small Steps - Workshops/Training/Retreats

The following small steps are stand-alone events - offering specific benefits to your organization.  They also give you an opportunity to see if my style and approach are a good fit for your organization before entering into a larger contract. Each event is tailored to your needs:

The Care and Feeding of Volunteers

In a report by the Urban Institute, one of the key areas to success in working with volunteers is training on how to work with volunteers - and yet, many organizations are led by individuals who have not had this training.  Learn the basics of how to recruit, maintain and train those who want to serve your organization.

Targeted Problem-Solving

Using a five-step process, we'll work with members of your team on targeted problem-solving that moves from the identification of the problem to potential solutions (and evaluation of those solutions for 'acceptability'.)

Merger Mediation

If your organization is considering collaboration or merger with another organization it is helpful to have someone who is separate from either group to lead a process that uncovers both challenges and opportunities.  This initial meeting helps to identify the potential areas of concern.  Continued services in mediation and merger may also be contracted if desired.

Buildings, Butts and Budgets

Buildings, Butts and Budgets shouldn't be the focus of your organization, but they can help to frame and support the work that you do.  We'll do an onsite tour of your facility and examine your internal demographics and budget to tell you what they say about your organization.  How friendly is your building?  What are your values based on the artifacts and budget line-items? What is the message you are giving those who do not know your organization?
